January 6, 2004 Ultrarunners of the month for December 2003, brought to you by Ultrafit Sports, The Endurance Performance Leader  Dave Mackey, 34, of Boulder, CO was the top American finisher and 2nd overall at the Sunmart 50 Mile Trail Run on December 13th.  Mackey, who less then a month earlier broke the 6 hour mark at the prestigious JFK 50 Miler, accomplished the same by running the Hunstsville State Park course in 5:58:55. Earlier this year, he was crowned the USA National Champion at the White River 50 Mile Trail Run in Washington.  Ann Heaslett, 40, of Madison, WI, won the Huff 50K Trail run in Huntington, IN, with a time of 4:15:56, beating 2003 Ultrarunner of the Year, Connie Gardner by 20 minutes.  Heaslett was the 2002 USATF Ultrarunner of the year, winning the 2002 50 Mile Trail Championship and 24 Hour Road Championship. Congratulations to these two outstanding performers.
